U.S. Steel
In 1899, lawyer William Nelson Cromwell and banker Edmund C. Converse consolidated 13 small companies in the “wrought steel, iron and tube industries” to create the National Tube Company. Two years later, when giant U. S. Steel was formed, the new conglomerate absorbed the National Tube Company and made it the world leader in tubular steel products.
Working with exhibit designer DG Studios, Milestones helped to develop content for a 10,000 square foot U. S. Steel Tubular Products Innovation and Technology Center in Houston, Texas. Six areas of exhibit space invite visitors to explore the history of steelmaking and milestone innovations in product development.
